BACOLOD CITY, Aug. 11 -- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is eyeing six more Negosyo Centers in Negros Occidental this year after the inauguration of the ninth facility in the province this week.
The latest Negosyo Center opened on Thursday in Sipalay City , about 170 kilometers south of Bacolod, and it is expected to help stimulate the enterprise and tourism sectors in the locality.
The six additional centers are expected to open in the cities of Bago, Himamaylan, Cadiz, Silay and Escalante, and town of La Castellana.
DTI-Negros Occidental Provincial Director Lea Gonzales, in a report on Friday, said the Negosyo Center in Sipalay aims to capacitate entrepreneurs in various sectors essential to boost tourism initiatives.
Potential sectors to be further developed include food, fashion accessories and garments, furniture and furnishings, gifts, and decor.
The Negosyo Center in Sipalay is located within the Business Processing and Licensing Office to provide one-stop-shop services.
The center’s regular services include business advisories, business information and advocacy, and training.
Last year, the DTI opened the eight Negosyo Center in Hinigaran town after the ones in the cities of Bacolod, San Carlos, Victorias, and La Carlota. In 2015, the Negros First Negosyo Center at the Provincial Capitol Complex in Bacolod and also those in the cities of Kabankalan and Sagay.
Gonzales said that Negosyo Centers is one of the DTI’s sustaining measures to empower micro, small,and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
The establishment of Negosyo Centers is provided under the Republic Act 10644, or the Go Negosyo Act.
It provides MSMEs the ease of doing business, and facilitates access to grants and other forms of financial assistance, and shared service facilities, among others.
The law also aims to ensure management guidance, assistance and improvement of the working conditions of enterprises, and facilitate market access and linkaging services for entrepreneurs.(PNA)
