PLEDGE OF EMPOWERMENT: Girl Scouts from various cities in Greater Manila Area pledge their commitment as “Energy Cost Busters” by practicing energy efficiency and conservation measures in their day-to-day living. The oath-taking was part of the collaboration between the DOE and GSP Rizal Council Camp for the celebration of the 2018 National Women’s Month last March 2 in Marikina City.

(Marikina City). The Department of Energy (DOE) and the Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) Rizal Council Camp celebrated the 2018 National Women’s Month (NWM) through a joint consumer education campaign last March 2 at the Sto. Niño Baseball Field in Marikina City during the annual camping activity.

Consistent with the 2018 NWM’s theme: “We Make Change Work for Women,” two sub-camps from the GSP Rizal Council Camp took part in the DOE-Consumer Welfare and Promotion Office (CWPO)-led educational seminars - the ENEReady: A Career Talk on Breaking Gender Stereotypes in the Energy Workforce under the agency’s Gender and Development (GAD) program; and the Energy Smart Kids or EnerKids.

Aligned with the DOE's E-Power Mo campaign, the ENEReady and EnerKids programs aims to promote gender balance and development in the energy sector and educate the younger generation on energy efficiency and conservation measures.

A total of 238 Grades 7-10 campers from Antipolo, Las Piñas, Malabon, Marikina, Muntinlupa, Navotas, Parañaque, Pateros, Rizal, San Juan and Taguig were given valuable insights by resource speakers from DOE-CWPO on the work of women engineers and geologists in the DOE whose careers they can aspire for in the future.

Energy Secretary Alfonso G. Cusi said, “As we salute and recognize the vital role of women in our lives, the energy family commits itself to the furtherance of women empowerment and upholding gender complementarities for a more progressive society.”

The DOE Speakers engaged the GSP in a lively and very thorough discussion of practical household energy efficiency and conservation tips that they can apply in their daily lives.

The educational program was capped with the Pledge of Commitment, branding the students as “Energy Cost Busters” to apply their newly acquired learning on energy in their own homes.

Early this year, the DOE and the GSP made a pact through a Memorandum of Understanding to train 2.2 Million Girl Scouts on basic electricity concepts and wise and efficient utilization of energy as well as through hands-on experiments.

The Agreement also entailed the conduct of educational fora geared towards encouraging young girls to take up courses in science, technology and energy.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
