Nineteen overseas Filipino workers deported from Malaysia arrived Thursday at the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport in Clark, Pampanga.
The illegally recruited OFWs are now troubled by fear and apprehension as they recounted their ordeal in Malaysia.
"Naranasan ho namin talaga na kumain ng noodles na hati-hati po kami sa bilang naming na ito…minsan lang kami kumain sa loob ng isang araw. natutulog kami sa isang kwartong paupo (We experienced eating noodles which we had to divide among ourselves, and we could only eat once a day. We also had to sleep sitting down)," said "Helen" who declined to be named.
Ron Gagalac reported that the victims now fear their illegal recruiters who have been threatening them.
"Tinatakot-takot po kami. Pinagmumura po kami doon sa agency iyun (They would scare us and curse us in the agency)," said another victim "Rene".
The alleged illegal recruiters were identified as Elma Sabiniano, Jon Sabiniano and Edeliza Quiambao.
The news team however, tried but failed to contact the three to get their side of the story.
The victims alleged that one of their recruiters is married to a councilor of Jones in Isabela province.
"Sabi sa akin, mag ingat ka kapag dating mo sa Clark patay ka na, tigok ka na, wala ka nang pamilya (I was told, be careful when you get to Clark, you will be dead and you will have no more family)," said Helen.
The OFWs were escorted by Jones policemen as they headed back to province, reports added.
They said that the experience will not prevent them to again try and find work abroad to recover the P60,000 they paid the illegal recruiters.
"Gusto po naming bumalik, sir, pero sa legal na paraan na siguro (I still want to go back, although legally this time)," said "Rudy".
