AROUND P10 million worth of jewelry and cash were stolen from a pawnshop on Tandang Sora Avenue, Barangay (village) Old Balara in Quezon City over the weekend.

The burglary was discovered only Monday by an employee of Lydia Zuńiga Pawnshop, according to reports reaching the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit.

Case investigator Police Officer 2 Roland Belgica said the pawnshop owner, Lydia Zuńiga, 81, reported that the cash and jewelry were kept in two vaults which were forced open.

The burglary was discovered by appraiser Aida Pingon when she opened the establishment at around 8 a.m. Monday.

Found inside the pawnshop were tools believed to have been left behind by the burglars, including a drill, a bolt cutter and a portable liquefied petroleum gas tank.
