IMUS CITY, Cavite -- A motorcycle driver was killed while his backrider was seriously injured in a head-on collision with a dump truck along Buhay na Tubig Road here early Thursday.
Initial police investigation disclosed that the motorcycle riders were found to be under the influence of liquor, which may have resulted in the collision.
Imus City Police identified the fatality as Julie Pascual Magan, 31, and his backrider as Christopher L. Brosas, both of Vallejo Place, Barangay Pasong Buaya 2 in this city.
Case investigators said the dump truck was travelling along Buhay na Tubig Road heading towards Aguinaldo Highway when the motorcycle that was traveling in the opposite direction swayed and bumped the truck’s front.
The riders were thrown off the motorcycle and landed on the road after the collision.
They were rushed to the Imus Medical Center but the driver was declared dead on arrival while the backrider is undergoing treatment for serious physical injuries.
The dump truck was registered under the Cavite Ideal International Construction and Development Corp. (CAVDEAL) and driven by Vengie Coronel Pastor, 46, of Biga 2, Silang, Cavite.
Pastor and the dump truck are under the custody of the Imus City Police as police are filing charges against the driver for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and serious physical injuries. (Rogelio Limpin/PNA)
