Amazing Filipinos succeed all over the world, especially in the music industry. Michael Chaves is yet another testament to the truth of this. Chaves is a band member of American pop singer and actress Mandy Moore, who popularized the songs "Cry", "Only Hope", and "I Wanna Be With You".

Chaves is the lead guitarist of Moore's band. He started his career in 1996 with Duncan Sheik, who popularized the songs "Barely Breathing and "Wishful Thinking." He then worked for a couple of years with John Mayer, who is behind the song "Your Body is a Wonderland".
He had been in US tours with singer-actress Hilary Duff. He also joined the band Five For Fighting before he started working with Moore in January of last year.
Chaves shared in an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN that his parents raised him with music.
Chaves, who hails from Mindanao, said he is proud to be Filipino, and that it is a major reason for him to strive harder in a foreign land.
In Chaves' official website, he wrote that he is a musician in the studio and on the road and if anyone needs someone to make them music, he is there.
When asked whom he thinks are the Pinoy artists who could make it in the international music scene, Chaves said: "Bamboo."
Chaves, whose parents are both from Mindanao, cannot speak any local dialects including Tagalog. But at the very least he still knows how to say this Filipino phrase: "Mabuhay, Kapamilya!"
