Chile Tribute Band Meets Journey
The Chilean Journey tribute band, Frontiers, met Journey in the lobby of the Sheraton Hotel in Santiago on February 23, just prior to Journey's concert. They've made some video available (see below) and discuss the meeting and provide photos on their website (which take a few minutes to load, so be patient). Click HERE to view them, then click on the galleria, choose the photo, and wait for it to load. Since it takes so long, we snagged a couple of photos with Arnel in them. Let's hope they don't mind.

03/08/08: First reports from Las Vegas:
Fans met Ross and Deen last night and heard they will play 4 new songs tonight. One fan said he heard 30 seconds of a song and the vocals were "jaw dropping" and sounded like Perry on Frontiers. Exciting news!
He also said Neal stopped on stage, put his guitar aside and gave Arnel a hug. Awwwwwwwwww!
The ReMax show on the 6th went really well and Arnel was outstanding. No new songs were performed, but Arnel did a wonderful version of "When You Love A Woman". As suspected, Deen sang "After The Fall". Stay tuned!
03/12/08: Updates: Jonathan Cain interview on KNBR
Jonathan spoke on the air with the morning show on KNBR radio, a sports radio station. They began with a little musical intro called "Cain's World" especially for Jonathan. Jonathan talked about the band finishing their new album package. Their manager also manages The Eagles, and their recent success was used as a model for Journey's new package. Jonathan said they rerecorded a disc of their greatest hits paying special attention to detail on those songs, not wanting to "step all over it". They also recorded a disc of new music, and he said the package will also include a DVD from the Vegas show which will be 60 minutes long.
Jonathan talked about finding Arnel on YouTube.com after losing their "starting pitcher", their singer of eight years, Steve Augeri, who could not recover from a "throat thing" that singers often experience. He said this occurred This happened during their Def Leppard tour and Jeff Scott Soto stepped in to help them get through the tour. However, Jonathan said, the band knew that to move on they needed someone who was going to be their future and sounds like Journey is supposed to sound. He mentioned that both he and Neal were "trolling" for a new singer and found Arnel out of the blue. He talked about the problems with immigration Arnel experienced getting his visa, but said that the officer, Ben, asking Arnel to sing "Wheel In The Sky" while applying for his visa and because he sang a cappella and is such a great singer and a great guy, his visa was stamped. He said Arnel is kind of a star in Manila.
Jonathan called Arnel phenomenal, sensational and a winner. He said he's a clutch player and the future for their franchise. He talked about Arnel being very nervous for his first show in Chile which was televised and broadcast to 25 million people and how Arnel kept asking Jonathan if he could go home beforehand. He said that four shows in, Arnel is relaxed and thinks it's no big deal to record a live DVD. He talked about Neal Schon not knowing much about sports, and said Neal shreds, rides his motorcycle and looks at the internet for every bad thing someone has to say about him. Jonathan said he told Neal that was bad for his health because people write bad stuff and they have no life!
Jonathan also mentioned a song on the album that he wrote titled "What It Takes To Win" which is very different from typical Journey music. He said it's "bad to the bone" with a great hook perfect for all sports fans.
