Note: I remember when I was so down I kept singing this song until its meaning penetrated into my soul, and God's presence comforted. The I started to sob.

Thanks for sharing this song, Mike. I've always loved Hillsongs and sing them in our worship services. This is the first time I've heard this song, I suppose by the heavenly angel Darlene Zschech. The words tug at my heart.

When we are in pain, we just hold on to the assurance that we are being individually touched by Jesus to share in his own sufferings so that we can likewise comfort others in distress.

The title of the song may seem a bit off-season in these merry days. But as I mentioned in our sharing the other Sunday, the manger is meaningless without the cross. Jesus' birth shows us that God is not a distant being who simply looks at us from afar, but cares so much for us that he gave us His only son, born in flesh in our midst to redeem us from sin.

I think the lyrics have reference to Romans 8:35

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?
