The World Chinese Economic Forum, attended by leading industry players and businessmen, will be held for the first time outside Malaysia this year.
The annual forum, which brings together government, business and thought leaders, will be held in Melbourne for two days beginning Nov. 12.
Forum Advisor Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek said Australia was chosen on the invitation by the Victoria state government to host the event as the state has substantial Chinese population.
"Australia, known as a fast growing economy with huge natural resources, has also been attracting more investment from China," Chua said during a media briefing Wednesday.
The World Chinese Economic Forum brings together leading business and community leaders from the Chinese diaspora worldwide.
