subscriber ko aning cheap investor. i get some ideas from here. these are some subscriber reviews

SUBSCRIBER REVIEWS
Posted by Rodger Ehlert on Apr 29, 2014 @ 12:00 am
If you are considering the Cheap Investor, don’t do it. It’s true that a few of his recommendations go up but very few and there is NO prorated refund after the 60 day free trial. I felt 60 days wasn’t enough time to give it a fair test. After losing on five of his recommendations, I found that I had missed his refund period. He gives no sell recommendations and only follows up on the winners. Not worth it.

Subscribed to Mathews cheap investor a few months ago. I feel like i’m already making less mistakes. Most stock picks are made after a small stock is down 80% or more. Buying them is not easy after you been buying Apple and GE and stocks like that for decades. But they pay off. About 80% winners so far. 4 stars now. 5 stars if he can keep this up for rest of year.

Posted by Joe on Aug 27, 2011 @ 3:08 pm
I have been a subscriber for 7 months and the stocks recommended have been consistent with the volatility of the market, especially being penny stocks. The letter focuses on valuable companies that are undervalued and not recognized by Wall Street. This allows for the investor with a small amount of capital to purchase a greater quantity of stock which can result in a larger percentage of gain. I have taken profits from several stock picks that have reached 30% to 70% gains. In most scenarios the selling decision is left to the investor’s discretion. So far I am presently satisfied with the performance of most of the stocks, considering the market’s volatility.

Posted by Nvestgrrl on Jul 21, 2010 @ 2:08 pm
Any penny stock investor will tell you – it’s tough to analyze and choose penny stocks. There’s not much public data, and penny stock prices can be awfully volatile. That being said, The Cheap Investor does better job than most at finding winners. Quite a few picks go over 300% returns. Only problem is that they don’t give you sell signals. Still, since most of their picks go up, you can do okay as long as you don’t get greedy. This newsletter seems to be best of the penny stock bunch, according to my experience (InvestorPlace’s MicroCap Investor) and other penny stock reviews on this site.

Urgent Message from Donald J. Trump

Dear Friend,

Are you ready to Make American Great Again?

Since I announced my candidacy for the Republican nomination for president I have soared to first place in the polls, defying the mainstream media and the GOP establishment.

I am rising in the polls because of you – and the fact that I am offering the American people an alternative to the inept career politicians who talk big but never produce results.

I have a long track record of producing big results. Very big results.

Frankly, I am running for president because I hate seeing what is happening to America – the country I love so much.

I am sick and tired of China and Mexico and all other countries beating us at the negotiating table – getting one-sided trade deals from Washington officials.

They have been letting these countries rip off our jobs, killing our potential for economic growth.

Let’s face it, America is in deep trouble.

We are a laughing stock around the globe as our incompetent leaders like Obama and Hillary Clinton get outmaneuvered.

Our economy is a disaster.

I think the American people are ready for some hard truths.

You know I call it the way I see it.

Thanks to Obama, the American dream is dead.

But I can bring it back – bigger and better and stronger than ever before.

A few weeks ago the political establishment went crazy when I pointed out the fact that some illegal aliens from Mexico, being pushed into our country by the Mexican government, are bringing crime, drugs and murder to the United States.

The media tried to smear me, claiming I was “racist” and that I attacked the Mexican people.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

I forced the media to focus on a number of horrific crimes in which U.S. citizens were killed by illegal immigrants who got into the country because our borders are so porous practically anyone can walk into the United States.

In the face of this media onslaught, my poll numbers actually went up.

I even pulled well ahead of Jeb Bush, the supposed “front-runner.”

Bush is a weak and ineffective leader who would merely preside over the continued decline of this country. If he gets the nomination, we lose in 2016.

I am very critical of John McCain’s record in the U.S. Senate. He has done little to help veterans.

John McCain has been in the Senate for 30 years and worked closely with Senator Bernie Sanders to pass legislation to ensure that no one was held responsible for the scandal at Obama’s Veterans Administration, in which over 1,000 of our veterans died waiting for medical care.

Ironically many of these veterans died in the VA hospital in Phoenix, Arizona – McCain’s home state!

It’s just like Benghazi – incompetent and pathetic officials screw up, then Americans die . . . and no one in Washington is held responsible.

My concern is for all those men and women who served this country.

As president, I would build the finest Veterans Hospital system in the world where our veterans would have universal access – and I will do it for far less in tax dollars than we are spending now on our disgraceful broken Veterans Administration health care system.

The political establishment is in shock over the way I have taken the lead in the presidential race – and they are scared to death.

I am not afraid – I know Americans like you are with me.

Because my campaign will be funded mostly with my own money, the Washington insiders know that the lobbyists and special interests will have no influence in a Trump administration.

The special interests know you can’t “buy” me.

As I have traveled across the country I have met thousands of Americans who want to join our crusade. Actually, some people are calling it a movement.

The media, however, wants to claim that I have no grass-roots support.

I want to prove them wrong. I am asking you to stand with me and join with me today.

I believe so much in this campaign and that we can Make America Great Again, that I will match dollar-for-dollar every dollar donated by people like you.

If you will send a contribution of $25, $50, $100, $250 or more I will personally match whatever gift you give.

If you can send $500, $1,000 or more, I will also match that.

Show your support – Go Here Now

I want to show the liberal media that not since the days of Ronald Reagan has there been such a grass-roots movement of people ready to transform our party and our country.

My #1 goal is to create the greatest economic boom in American history, to unleash the incredible spirit of free enterprise in this country – get America moving again!

I have been tremendously blessed in this country.

I want all American families to share in the great economic opportunities this country offers.

I am very rich and I created something very special.

I want to make you and the American people rich.

I have no doubt the liberal media and the GOP establishment will continue to attack me.

But, make no mistake, I will never back down or apologize in the fight to make the America great again.

Stand with me today and send a powerful message to the establishment by supporting my campaign

Please rush me your answer today – Go Here Now.

Sincerely,

Donald J. Trump

P.S. I so strongly believe in what I am doing that I am willing to match every dollar you contribute to my campaign. Jeb Bush just raised over $100 million from Washington insiders. His donors are not donating to me because they can’t own me. Show America you want to join me in taking back Washington – Go Here Now

Paid for by Donald J. Trump for President, Inc.

Dear Vice President Binay

Posted on July 28, 2015 by Pinay

I am writing this because I had enough. Everyday, I encounter posts on facebook about you and all the “greatness” you think you can bring to our country as well as all those criticisms you have against our current administration which just sound so absurd to me because you are actually part of administration na sinisiraan mo.
As early as we enter grade school, we were taught that president and vice president should help each other as well as work hand in hand together. If he fails to execute something, you should be the one who will think of ways to solve the problem. But as I see it, all you do is tell us Filipinos the “palpak” things that Pnoy did, blame him for everything and of course, tell everyone what you would do if you’re the president of our country. You see, that’s where everything starts to be questionable.
But you my dear vice president, you have all the power to make a change. If you think you’ll be so great for the Philippines this coming 2016, why haven’t you done so much change during your term as vice president? All the issues you’re throwing against our President, the MRT issue to say the least, why didn’t you do something about it yourself? Why? Because you don’t want to do something unless you are going to be rewarded and praised SOLELY for it.
I know that being a vice president has limits in terms of what you can actually do according to our Constitution, but it doesn’t mean that because of that, you’ll stop doing the things you think will bring good to our country. But I guess, that’s where the difference between someone who genuinely wants to help make a change and someone who wants to have power to make a change lies. How I wish you belong to the first one.
Two years ago, I already sensed everything you’re doing. All those helping the balikbayans, I knew you had an ulterior motive. All those acts, as good as they were that time, lack genuineness. From that day on, I knew something was up. I was right. And here you are now, blatantly telling the whole world how greedy you are of power. You don’t have any decency anymore. Every opportunity you can get, you grab it and make sure you make the most of it. All your “HELP” in the form of relief goods, rosary, school supplies, yes, they are wonderful. If only your intentions are great. In every single thing you are giving people, you never forget to remind them where it came from. Those relief bags with your name printed on it, huh! You even make sure that people will remember you when they’re praying as you made it sure the rosary bracelet has your initial “B” printed boldly on it. I wish God will approve of your actions. And if only, you’ll still do the same things even if you’re stripped off the power, but I doubt it. Tsk. Tsk.
There are far too many things I want to tell you that I don’t know what to say first, what I should follow it with and how I can make all the Filipinos see through your actions.
You said you will deliver your own SONA??? Let me tell you, we don’t need your lies. We need FACTS. And I don’t think that VP Jejomar Binay and FACTS actually go together.
You’re a vice president but you don’t act like one. You’ve started campaigning ever since you became the vice president. And now, you’ve become far too aggressive. I wish you luck on your strategy. But lucky us, it’s started to backfire on you.
When the senate invited you to explain yourself about those issues we all know, you refused. You said you’re already judged by the people. Yes we judged you, because you became coward. We knew you were hiding something. A person who is clean and is not guilty of anything will not be afraid to say anything. He will not be afraid to be judged because he knows he holds the truth.
And can you please, please stop acting as if you own Makati? You are not the reason that Makati is the way it is now. Don’t claim what Ayalas did to Makati as your doings. If people, especially those living in Makati know how much budget Makati actually has, they will be asking, “where did all our money go?” Makati is Makati majorly because of Ayalas. And it’s soooo beneficial to you because you can just pocket the people’s money because of them.
I had too much in my mind that my brain cells got on haywire. My displeasure on you Mr. Vice President is too overwhelming that I get stressed out every single time I see a post regarding your accusations, criticisms and claims on what you THINK you can do to our country.
I truly wish you can still sleep well at night. If only you still have conscience.
Remember my dear vice president,
God is watching.

Vote Rene BALONG Econg for president hihihihihi

15 Things Trump and Reagan Have in Common

By Jim Meyers   |   Monday, 03 Aug 2015 05:28 PM

Few people thought former Hollywood star Ronald Reagan could ever become president — until he was elected twice.

Few people thought business mogul Donald Trump could be a serious presidential candidate — until he shot to the top of most polls amid a crowded GOP field.

Here is a Newsmax look at 15 things The Donald has in common with The Gipper.

1. Like Reagan, Trump is a Washington outsider. Reagan was twice elected governor of California but never served in Congress. Trump has never held political office. And then as now, being an outsider is a virtue to voters who desperately want change.

2. Reagan was dismissed as a serious candidate, and so was Trump. "The establishment critics said the exact same things about Reagan," Jeffrey Lord, a former Reagan aide who is close to the Trump campaign, told The Telegraph. "Reagan was ridiculed as 'not serious' and a B-movie actor, and they said over and over he could never win — until he did. It's happening again. I really feel it."

Urgent Letter from Donald Trump – Read More

3. Trump and Reagan were both attacked by the establishment as being extreme and simplistic. Yet people were so fed up with the state of the country under Jimmy Carter that Reagan beat him in a landslide. As Trump's showing in the polls demonstrates, people are once again fed up with establishment politics.

4. Trump shares Reagan's "passion" for what he believes in. Reagan son's Michael Reagan recently told Newsmax that Trump speaks with the kind of passion his father so brilliantly conveyed. "That's why America right now has surrounded Trump, in this case, because he's off the cuff and he speaks from his own passion."

5. Trump espouses similar views as Reagan on illegal immigration. Trump created controversy — and won support from many — for his outspoken comments about illegal immigration and the lack of border security. Reagan signed the Immigration Reform and Control Act in 1986, making it illegal to knowingly hire or recruit illegal immigrants and requiring employers to attest to their employees' immigration status.

6. Trump is a straight-talker, like Reagan. He doesn't hide behind political correctness, as his comments about illegal immigration demonstrate. Reagan talked to people from the heart and was dubbed The Great Communicator.

7. Trump began as a Democrat before becoming a Republican. Reagan, too, was initially a liberal Democrat, but he backed Dwight Eisenhower and Richard Nixon and went on to register as a Republican in 1964.

8. Trump, like Reagan, has been a TV star. Reagan hosted "General Electric Theater" in the 1950s and "Death Valley Days" in the 1960s. Trump found TV stardom with "The Apprentice" and "Celebrity Apprentice."

Do You Still Support Trump? – Vote Here

9. Trump seeks to follow in Reagan's footsteps and succeed a liberal, big-government Democratic president. And Barack Obama is even further to the left than Jimmy Carter was.

10. Trump and Reagan both opposed runaway public employees' unions. Trump told Bill O'Reilly that he thought Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is "doing what's right for his state" by reining in public workers' unions. Reagan in August 1981 fired more than 11,000 air traffic controllers after they went on strike in violation of a federal law barring government unions from striking.

11. Trump shares Reagan's overall aim as president: to make America great again. Trump said he began the process of trademarking the slogan "Make America Great Again" and criticized some of his GOP opponents for using it. Reagan prominently featured the slogan on his campaign materials.

12. Trump favors tax reduction, as did Reagan. The reduction in tax rates championed by "Reaganomics" sought to spur economic growth. Trump has called for a repeal of the estate tax, the lowering of taxes on capital gains and dividends, and reducing the corporate tax rate to zero to spur job growth.

13. Trump, like Reagan, is pro-life. In 1982, Reagan stated: "Simple morality dictates that unless and until someone can prove the unborn human is not alive, we must give it the benefit of the doubt and assume it is (alive). And, thus, it should be entitled to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." Trump said in April 2011 that he was pro-life after years of being pro-choice.

14. Trump and Reagan both have defended gun rights and the Second Amendment. Reagan in 1986 signed the Firearm Owners Protection Act, which among other things ended federal records-keeping on ammunition sales. He said if we give up "that part of the Constitution" that is the Second Amendment, "we give up part of our freedom and increase the chances that we will lose it all." Trump told Breitbart News in April: "It is so important that we maintain the Second Amendment and that we maintain it strongly. And one of the main reasons is because the good people, the upstanding people, follow laws and norms, but the bad ones don't."

15. Reagan was the first president who had been divorced. President Trump would be the second. Reagan divorced Jane Wyman before marrying Nancy Davis in 1952. Donald and Ivana Trump divorced and he went on to wed Marla Maples in 1993 and Melania Knauss in 2004.

Canada-based Thoth Technology was recently granted U.S. and U.K. patents for a space elevator reaching 12.5 miles into the sky. The ThothX Tower is a proposed freestanding piece of futuristic, pneumatically pressurized architecture, designed to propel astronauts into the stratosphere. Then they can then be launched into space. The tower would also likely be used to generate wind energy, host communications technology and will be open to space tourists.

The goal of the tower is to reduce the inefficiency and cost of rocket flights launched from the ground, which space travel presently relies upon. Brendan Quine, the inventor of the tower, told The Guardian, "Part of the limitation on space travel is the cost of getting to space. The tower could change space travel because professional rockets are very energy intensive and not very environmentally friendly." The proposed space elevator would be 20 times taller than the world's tallest skyscraper in Dubai.

usa ka semana na tang way dokdok sa yoter. mawad-an ta ug customer, readers, tig subay, fans , critics ug uban pa. mao nga hinay2 na pod ug gawas kining inyong alagad. nawala man god ahong gana nga na arkanse ko sa apple sa dihang mi os-os gikan sa $119 ang share price. mao nga ang ahong gibuhat, i told myself nga ahong bawi-on ahong arkanse. sa dihang mi os-os pa jud hangtod sa $92, mi dugang ko ug palit ug 100 shares. gamay ra jud kay gamay ra ta ug pohonan, kay hibaw man ko nga mo saka ug balik ang share price. that was on the 24th. ug karon petsa 28 na, ahong gi arya. na halin sa tag $111.8.

let us do the math.
100 x $92 = $9200
100 x $111.80 = $11,180
$11,180 - $9200 = $1980

Starting the Week With a Bang: RLBD

Hello again Ladies & Gentlemen,

We wouldn’t interrupt your Sunday evening for no reason. The reason for this email is for a legitimate chance for our readers to have a shot at following a company whose products have appeared on ABC’s Shark Tank.

But that alone is not what captivates our attention entirely. You see RLBD presents itself as an opportunity for readers and followers to benefit from its current bottomed out position.

We believe that we could see a nice bounce play from its current basement position of around eleven cents.

RLBD or Real Brands, Inc., competes in the consumer products industry. Their strategy is to acquire, develop, distribute, license and broker consumer products brands.

RLBD is a publicly held consumer packaged goods company. The Company’s strategy is to build branded consumer products through distribution, licensing, acquisition, and new brand development. The company’s core business is comprised of Real Brands Beverage Group, Real Brands Food Group, and Real Brands Venture Group.  While actively seeking new consumer packaged goods opportunities, Real Brands currently owns The Original Sandwich Sauceâ„¢ (“TOSS”) and has the exclusive worldwide license for non-alcoholic beverages (i.e. lemonade, iced tea, etc.), beer and malt beverages with HillBilly® Brand. (As seen on ABC’s Shark Tank)

In 2011 Hillbilly Brand showcased their country clothing line on ABC'S hit prime time TV show Shark Tank. The Sharks were thrilled with the brand and the Hillbilly Boys agreed to do a deal with Daymond John, Robert Herjavec and guest shark Jeff Foxworthy. After negotiating for several months after the show aired, they couldn't come to terms so the Hillbilly Boys walked away from the deal. The advice and exposure they received from the show helped launch Hillbilly Brand into several new markets and product categories

HillBilly Brand Country Clothing is a perfect example of the classic American business story. They started off selling t-shirts and hats from the back of a truck and have grown into a premier outdoor lifestyle brand. They created the brand because they wanted to give people who enjoy the country lifestyle a way to express themselves. Their products represent that lifestyle and the people who live it everyday. HillBilly Brand fills a gap in the lifestyle clothing market by offering fashionable clothing for those who were born country and raised outdoors. Hillbilly Brand's country clothing has also been featured on the CMA Music Festival and CMT's My Big Redneck Vacation.

The company builds brands via 4 defined paths:

Distributing… third party brands to established distributor networks.
Licensing… trademarks to launch brands into established distributor networks.
Acquiring… brands with complimentary or established distributor networks.
Developing… proprietary brands to launch into established distributor networks

What has attracted the attention from the OTC sharks on Wall Street recently is the announcement of their new appointed chairman, Peter N. Christos.

Mr. Christos's background includes over 30 years of corporate finance/investment banking experience on Wall Street, which also includes successfully founding, funding and growing micro cap companies across many industries.

"Pete Christos's decades of corporate finance/investment banking experience on Wall Street overtime should have an enormous impact on Real Brands, Inc.," said Jerry Pearring CEO of Real Brands, Inc. "Over the past few months he has taken the time to understand the daily operations insisting on riding around in a truck to open accounts, deliver product, participate in customer reordering, speak to customers, and understand pricing structures and margins of the Company. In turn he has brought a real clarity to the business, assisting us in significantly reengineering our balance sheet (more work to be done), and realigning our business plan allowing our very small team to bring about a laser focus to the operations. I have known Pete professionally and personally for over a decade, and I am excited to work with him as we continue to execute on our more focused business model and growth plan.”

"There is plenty of research to back up the fact that the Alternative Beverage category can be very rewarding. It has also been interesting to see a how a very small yet highly focused and motivated beverage sales and operations team can make meaningful progress within a few short months with virtually no resources. Having analyzed countless early-stage businesses, I believe Real Brands essentially only requires proper financing to drive the execution of its business faster, wider and deeper allowing for true economies-of-scale to positively impact its operations and the Company overtime," said Christos. I am excited for many reasons and will bring a set of disciplined corporate and business characteristics to our important beverage sales, operations and brand building expertise. I expect the Company's fundamentals to get stronger overtime, and since I have been able to spend the past approximately three months with Jerry we have already uncovered some key drivers that are relatively easily implemented and either are now or will be implemented during the balance of the year. Also, we have uncovered some synergistic prospects, suggesting a growing credence to our focused business model and growth plan. I am committed to assisting Jerry and our small but growing team drive the business to the next level and beyond”.

$2000 divided by .115 = 17391 shares

17391 multiplied by . 1245 = $2165

$2165 minus commission $16  =  $2149

Kapoy man tig dokdok, mantener sa ta ug copy paste

Rules for the Road

When trading timing is everything. You need to judge your buys and sells correctly. Lots of traders end up losing money even though they had massive gains at one point and decided not to take profits. Successful trading is all about taking small profits and living with even smaller losses. If you see a reasonable gain you need to sell and go about enjoying the rest of your day. With any of my trade alerts the best time for the cheapest shares can come from the opening bell. Once you have established a position make sure you do not walk away from your computer until you have entered your sell orders because the market can move for you or against you in a hurry.

mentras tanto nga wa pa tay trading, mag luto ta ug pan de sal

Ingredients:

6 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. dry active yeast, dissolved in 2 cups warm (45º C) water
1/3 cup + 1 tsp. white sugar
1/4 cup vegetable oil or butter, softened
Bread crumbs

Procedure:

Add the teaspoon of sugar to yeast and water mixture to reactivate the yeast. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, mix the rest of the sugar, salt and oil/butter until smooth. Add flour, a cup at a time until the dough becomes smooth and elastic and no longer sticks to the bowl.
Transfer to a clean surface and knead until smooth.
Alternatively, on a clean surface, create a mound of flour. Make a well in the middle and mix in all the ingredients. Slowly bring together the ingredients and knead until smooth.
When the dough is smooth, transfer it to a large oiled mixing bowl, turning the dough to make sure all sides are coated. Cover the dough with a towel or plastic wrap and allow it to ferment and double in volume for at least 1 hour.
After doubling in volume, cut the dough ball into 4 equal pieces, roll each into individual logs, and cut to desired size.
Roll the dough balls into bread crumbs until lightly coated, and transfer onto a lightly greased pan.
Cover the dough balls with a towel or plastic wrap and allow to double again in volume for at least 30 minutes to an hour.
When double in size, bake the oven in 190º C oven for about 15 minutes or until golden brown.
Serves 15-30, depending on the size of the bread.

naka ganansya ta ug hapit 3 mil dolyares sa BLGA. kong maajo jud ta mo timing, maximize nato ang profits. kong naka palit pa ta dajon sa open price nga .0143 unja naka baligja sa day high nga .0425 ang ganansya nato sa pohonan nga dos mil mo abot ug $3944 or hapit 4 mil.

let us do the math.
2000 divided by .0143 = 139,860 shares x .0425 = $5944

From Bohol Chronicle

Villajuan is Shell active chess champion
 July 12, 2015

Kiddies Champion Philgymn Villajuan proudly displayed his trophy with some members of the Bohol Chess Contingent; Ameldyn Monzolin, Roxanne Gumapac, Angel Mae Hibaya, Mario Villarojo, Nelissa Lopecillo, Kowloon Sit & Jhunrey Alimpolos.

12-year old Philgymn Villajuan, a grade 6 pupil of Brgy Legaspi Elementary School in Marabut, Western Samar ruled the Kiddies Division of the 23rd Shell National Youth Active Chess Championship-Visayas Leg last weekend at SM City-Cebu.

The diminutive mainstay of Doy’s Chess Club made sure that he will bring home the Kiddies title  by outplaying 6th ranked CPU’s Gil Casa Jr’s Queen’s pawn opening by employing his pet, Slav defense in the final round and came out solo champion with 8.0 points, 7 wins & 2 draws. The road to victory encountered some harrowing experiences when the Bohol Chess Contingent downed with only 12 players from the original list of 30 were stranded at the City pier’s passenger terminal when Coast Guard authorities did not give clearance  to the ship’s captain to travel after news broke out that typhoon Egay has just entered Visayas region  last Friday.

The group decided to proceed to Tubigon pier early morning and caught up the 7:00 am trip to Ouano wharf, Mandaue City in time for the opening round upon arrival.

The 17th ranked Villajuan drew with top seed Adrian de Luna of Sta. Barbara Elementary School, 8th ranked Catherine Regina Quinanola of Malabuyoc Elementary School and annihilated one by one – James Paraon of Labangon Elementary School, USC’s Angel Bagano, Tacloban City’s Eunice Tunggol, Marian Calimbo of Malabuyoc Elementary School, Inabanga’s Richard Gohetia Jr, and Antequera’s Angel Mae Hibaya. “Daku ko ug pasalamat sa mga taga Doy’s Chess Club labi na nilang Moy-moy Longjas ug Gerry Milan nga mao gyud ang mihatag ug dugang techniques sa opening, middlegame ug endgame kang Philgym”, said the father, Brooks in vernacular.

Villajuan will advance to the grand finals set on September 19-20 at SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City; all expenses paid by Shell Petroleum Corporation. He will engage against regional qualifiers. He honed his skills at the Doy’s Chess Club and joined weekend tournament.  He was this year’s Panaytayon Kiddies Champion, placed 2nd in the recent Blatz & Bolitz 2000 & below and was the top Kiddie player in the 6th edition, Café Ligbeans Chess Team Championship.

This year’s CVIRAA player Hibaya, a 9-year old chess prodigy of Mayor Mario Pahang made her presence felt when she registered 5 wins, 1 draw, and 3 losses. Her last round assignment against Joshua Villaran of Alimayo Elementary School was a won game but her flag dropped first, that cost her a spot in the magic circle of top ten out of 114 participants all over Visayas region.

Tubigon’s chess wonder & HNU’s Reishi Boy Polan placed 15th overall out of 117 participants in the Juniors Division while DCPNHS’ Marc Bryan Villarojo occupied the 20th spot. Both scored 6.0 points after they lost their final games against University of Cebu’s Duanne Borgonia and University of San Carlos’ Jeffu Dorog respectively. Dimiao’s Jayneil Yabo landed in the 31st spotwith 5.5 pts. He, too was defeated by CPU’s Fiona Guirhem in his final encounter. Other finishers were Mcjeiger Balista of Dimiao (70th); Calape’s Jimilee Montecalvo (77th); Almedyn Monzolin of Looc, Panglao (94th).

In the Senior Division, HNU’s Kowloon Sit of Cabad, Balilihan was the best finisher out of 6 Boholanos who were able to join the most awaited chess tournament with 50% performance, an improvement from her previous output in last year’s edition. Kow-Kow, as she is fondly called by her peers had two winning games but lost by time forfeit. She placed 36th overall while Maribojoc’s Dunhill Goudin was at the 38th spot with 4.5 points. Catigbian’s Gladys Joy Balduman and San Miguel’s Jhunrey Alimpolos settled at 41st and 47th out of 71 participants with 4.0 points while newcomer Roxanne Gumapac of Sagbayan placed 54th with 3.5 points.

74th seed Genesis Borromeo of Diaz College topped the Juniors Division with 8.0 points while Negros Oriental State University Adrian Dela Cruz of Sibulan, Negros Oriental grabbed the Seniors Division title with a higher tie break points against Cebu City’s Jethro Esplanada and Feliz Shaun Balbon.

“In behalf of the group, we would like to express our sincerest gratitude for those who believed in our skills, prayed and supported us for our chess cause by extending financial assistance especially to our beloved Governor, Atty. Edgar M. Chatto, to former Provincial Administrator Atty. Antonio “Jun” Amora, chess fanatics; retired DepEd employee Rufo Castro, Moy-Moy Longjas &  Red Cross’ Jay Quimson for our boat fare and to CENTCOM Commander Lt. General Nick Vivar for providing us a pleasant stay at the Transient Officers Quarters (TOQ) inside Camp Lapu-Lapu and the service vehicle driven by Sgt. Jun Villanueva.” said BAYCE President and Head Coach Stella Marie T. Celada. She was assisted by UB’s top lady player Nelissa Lopecillo. (Renzkie Ligan)

MONEY AND EMOTIONS
 September 6, 2015

On my way to a household prayer meeting on Thursday night, I heard on the car radio that operatives from the NBI raided the Click Mart office (the old SSS building infront of BISU) and confiscated documents which were believed to contain records of investments from members.

Perhaps by now, the public already knows that Click Mart engages in a money scheme from its members and holds pay-outs after 21 days with a whopping 33% return on interest.

Well, such a huge return is too good to be true of course. And added to that is the fact that Click Mart is not a financial institution, therefore is not allowed by law to take in monetary investments from members.

But despite these facts, many still succumb to the trick, to the lure of easy money. Why are we so attracted to money…more money? The obvious answer of course is that money allows us to buy more things and enjoy them. We dream of having much money because we desire the freedom and the power it provides us. With this freedom and power comes also happiness and enjoyment – but not contentment.

You see, the prospect of having a lot of money and the possibilities that go with it have the same effect with that of drugs, alcohol, or sex. It gives people a sense of high that in turn provides tremendous pleasure – but temporary pleasure at that. And because it does not come all the time, it all the more feeds our desire to get it and have more of it.

But even if we have reached a level where our money is enough to provide for our needs and want, we still have the tendency to continue to look for more because we are in constant search for something new. That is just our nature. We are built to seek for activity and growth while at the same time maintaining equilibrium. We never get contented because it so hard to still our minds which naturally is inclined to look for more possibilities in the future.

And so we continue to accumulate. And because we are naturally driven towards something that gives us pleasure and abhor that which cause us pain, the lure of easy money is so compelling that it will drive us to gamble even if sometimes the scheme clearly defies reason and logic.

This outward behavior of desiring money actually has a biochemical correspondent in the brain. The mental process, the hope of gaining much, triggers the release of endorphins in the brain, the hormones that gives us happy feelings. And this can become addictive. When it gets addictive, the desire becomes greed and that’s when it becomes pathological. And just like sex and drugs, it can be hard to stop.

Don’t get me wrong. We all need money; we want more than enough money. But our attitude towards money is more important than how much money we have. Our attitude determines whether we end up winning or losing in the game of money.

In money matters, it is wise to avoid the two extremes: too much money and no money. Too much money is when we hoard it for ourselves and not share it to bless others. This is pathological in the sense that our identity and security is too tied up with money and we all know that while money is instrumental to give us many things in many ways, it is just that, an instrument and nothing else.

Perpetually having no money is as well pathological because it reflects how we have not managed to use our God given talents to support our material needs and provide for our loved ones. This is an equally dangerous situation because even those who vowed to be poor as part of their calling in life need at least some money to continue with their work.

It is important for us to check our desires and attitude toward money. While we dream to have more so we can enjoy the freedom and power that money brings, this must be balanced by temperance and generosity. Because when only greed rules, it’s not just money, we could also lose our minds. What is more miserable than that?

Let us all learn from the tricycle driver who recently returned P88,000.00 to DYRD. What went on his head and heart when he saw the bundles of money? Why did he not keep it to himself? And how does the public react to such a show of honesty? Indeed, rare during these times. Let’s talk about it next week.

P.S. For consultation, contact me at 416-1248/09177201218. Or you can also email me at [email protected]. (By Kit Nemenzo Balane}

What is it that makes us human? Is it that we love, that we fight ? That we laugh ? Cry ? Our curiosity ? The quest for discovery ?
Driven by these questions, filmmaker and artist Yann Arthus-Bertrand spent three years collecting real-life stories from 2,000 women and men in 60 countries. Working with a dedicated team of translators, journalists and cameramen, Yann captures deeply personal and emotional accounts of topics that unite us all; struggles with poverty, war, homophobia, and the future of our planet mixed with moments of love and happiness.
