Family's new private equity fund seeks long-term ownership and stewardship of family-run industrial businesses

Summit Industry Partners, LLC today announced its first private equity fund geared towards long-term ownership and operation of established family-owned lower-middle market industrial companies in Colorado’s Front Range. For retiring business owners, Summit Industry Partners offers an alternative exit strategy to traditional private equity funds.
“We are a 3rd-generation manufacturing family that understands the value that small family industrial businesses provide the local community in terms of employment and long-term value creation within the local economy,” says Jason Korbelik, Managing Partner at Summit Industry Partners, LLC. “We can provide the continuity that many retiring business owners covet for their employees.”
Launched at the beginning of 2021, Summit Industry Partners, LLC believes there are many business owners looking for better exit strategies. “Going in, we knew we wanted to find well-run family-owned industrials where we could build off of great cultural foundations,” said Brian Korbelik, Partner at Summit Industry Partners, LLC. “We did not expect the mutual interest from so many small business owners right off the bat. First, there are obviously a number of owners looking to transition to their next stage in life. Second, we have found a tremendous amount of private equity fatigue within this demographic.”
Unlike many private equity founders, the Korbelik family brings little M&A experience but a wealth of operational expertise and will be involved in the day-to-day operations of the acquisitions by Summit Industry Partners. “Having grown up around it, we enjoy the day-to-day operations of small industrial businesses,” says Jason Korbelik. “It is an opportunity to come together as a team and help generate highly tangible benefits to the local economy. We also just really love the intellectual challenge that running small businesses represents.”
