MANILA, Jan. 25 (PNA) --The retail price index (RPI) for electrical wires slowed down year-on-year in December 2009 to 4.8 percent in the National Capital Region (NCR) from 10.8 percent the previous year, National Statistics Office (NSO) data show.
Latest NSO data showed that it was the first time since 2007 that the RPI for electrical materials eased to a single-digit rate. RPI for electrical wires reached 2.6 percent in 2007.
The index moved up over five times faster in December 2006, which was at 16.5 percent.
NSO data also show that the December RPI for selected construction materials in NCR, including those used in electrical work, decelerated to -0.7 percent in 2009 from 6.1 percent during the same month in 2008.
These materials and corresponding rate of RPI movement in December 2009 are those for carpentry (-1.1 percent), masonry (1.9 percent), painting (1.1 percent), plumbing (1.6 percent), tinsmithry (3.0 percent) and miscellaneous construction work (-6.3 percent). (PNA)
