The local bourse sustained its rise for the second-day in a row on Wednesday after closing at 4,966.58 points, buoyed by the positive news on US’ services sector.
The main
Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) rose by 40.91 points, or 0.83 percent, from the previous day’s 4,925.67 points.
Also, the broader all shares index increased to 3,317.76 points, higher by 23.89 points, or 0.73 percent, from the previous day’s 3,293.87 points.
All the sectoral indices also posted gains, erasing the negative performance of the mining and oil index earlier in the day.
Gainers edged losers at 93 to 52 while 46 stocks were unchanged.
Value of trade amounted to P4.64 billion after 1.28 billion shares changed hands.
Relatively, the local currency gained P0.25 against the dollar after closing at 43.22 from Wednesday’s 43.47.
It started the day at 43.35, weaker than the 43.30 in the previous day.
It rose to 43.18 but dipped to 43.38, bringing the average to 43.29, better than day-ago’s 43.38.
Volume of trade totaled to US$ 872.01 million, down from US$ 915.56 million the previous day.
