The London stock market closed higher on Wednesday with the leading FTSE 100 index up by 85.76 points, or 1.51 percent, to 5,747.35 points.
Mining stocks were among the biggest risers, bouncing back from falls earlier in the week as volatile metal prices rose once again.
Vedanta was the biggest riser, up 5.7 percent. Anglo American added 5.2 percent, while Xstrata gained 4.5 percent. (PNA/Xinhua)
