Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Wednesday bestowed award on this year's regional recipients of
Gawad Pamana ng Lahi (GPL).
In a simple ceremony held at the Oxford Hotel,
DILG Secretary Mar Roxas personally handed the prestigious awards to this year's winners--
Balanga City,
Bataan,
San Luis,
Aurora and
Tarlac. GPL is a total award concept conferred to provinces, cities and municipalities that have exhibited exemplary performance in administrative, social, economic and environmental governance.
Roxas, in his message, cited the importance of good governance in national development and how it brings out the best in the Filipinos.
"Good governance is the key to progress. We all know that. Through good governance, the economy will be better, there will be more investors, prices of basic goods will be lower and there will be stability for our constituents," he said.
