The
London stock market closed higher on Wednesday with the leading share index FTSE 100 up 32.58 points, or 0.6 percent at 5,276.64 points.
Hedge fund specialist Man Group led the gainers, up 5.2 percent, on rumors that U.S. investment firm BlackRock was interested in buying a stake.
Banking shares remained in demand after rising strongly on Tuesday. Lloyds was up 3.2 percent and Barclays was 2.9 percent higher. (PNA/Xinhua)
