Japan's 10 major power suppliers said Monday they will sharply raise electricity rates in July due to a surge in the price of crude oil used for thermal power generation.
Tokyo Electric Power Co. <9501> will raise its rate for an average household by 110 yen from the previous month to 6,584 yen, the steepest increase since the current rate system was introduced in May 2009.
