South Korea's economy is still facing high uncertainty at home and abroad, as consumption and investment sentiment are showing few signs of immediate improvement, the top economic policymaker said Wednesday.
The remarks by Finance Minster Bahk Jae-wan come after the government announced that its industrial output in September grew 0.7 percent on-year, quickening from the previous month's 0.3 percent gain.
The output also grew 0.8 percent compared with a month earlier, turning around from three consecutive months of contraction.
"Industrial output turned around to register a growth, and the facility utilization ratio in the manufacturing industry also improved, with facility and construction investment rebounding from the precious month's sharp declines," Bahk told a crisis management meeting held in central Seoul.
