American Red Cross and United Way to Receive $500,000 in Funding
IRVING, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Exxon
Mobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM) will donate $500,000 to the American
Red Cross and United Way for Hurricane Isaac disaster relief assistance
in Louisiana and Mobile, AL.
?The flooding from the storm has been devastating, particularly in
southern Louisiana,? said Steve Blume, manager, ExxonMobil Baton Rouge
Refinery. ?We hope that our donation to the Red Cross and United Way
will help the people of Louisiana and Mobile as they recover.?
ExxonMobil?s donation is being directed to the Louisiana Capital Area
Chapter Red Cross and the Capital Area United Way in Baton Rouge, the
United Way of the Greater New Orleans Area, the Southeast Louisiana
Chapter Red Cross and the Alabama Gulf Coast (Mobile) Chapter Red Cross.
The Red Cross provides food, shelter, counseling and other assistance to
the victims of this disaster and thousands of other disasters across the
country each year. The Capital Area United Way serves an area which
includes the parishes of Ascension, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana,
Iberville, Livingston, Pointe Coupee, St. Helena, St. James, West Baton
Rouge, and West Feliciana.
ExxonMobil employs approximately 5,000 employees and contractors in the
Baton Rouge area, where it has operated refining and petrochemical
manufacturing facilities for more than 100 years.
The United Way for the Greater New Orleans area serves Jefferson,
Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa and
Washington parishes. In St. Bernard Parish, an ExxonMobil affiliate
operates Chalmette Refining, L.L.C., which employs approximately 1,000
employees and contractors.
