China's trade surplus with the rest of the world, and with the United States in particular, has raised political hackles in slower-growing regions of the world, where many policy makers argue that the renminbi is artificially weak, giving Chinese exporters an advantage. Since June, China has allowed its currency to rise around 2 percent against the U.S. dollar.
