Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia said she has accepted an invitation to speak during the Philippine Investment Forum at the Metropolitan Club in New York on Sept. 22 where she will again showcase Cebu as an investment destination.
This is Garcia’s third time to speak before executives and owners of the international companies, which she said “have helped a lot in trying to project to the global stage and to present huge potential that Cebu has for the manufacturing, service sectors and the tourism industry.â€
â€This is also an opportunity to show what we have accomplished and how much more can be done together with potential investors in preparing Cebu for major investment, with government focusing on preparing Cebu for major investment,†she said.
Also invited to speak in the forum are Palawan Gov. Joel Reyes who will talk about eco-tourism and Lance Gokongwei, chief executive officer of budget airline Cebu Pacific.
Garcia said she can assure investors of enough power supply in Cebu in the next eight to 10 years with the additional 436 megawatts in two major power plants under construction in Naga and Toledo.
Garcia said the highly trained workforce from information technology courses and graduates that are needed in the service industry, such as hotels and restaurants, are considered the biggest assets of Cebu.
