Canadian aircraft and trains maker Bombardier Transportation (BT) has decided to transfer its financial and shared services workload to Cebu as part of its commitment to provide value-added business analysis to its global customers.
The move of Bombardier Transportation (BT), a public listed company under the Toronto Stock Exchange (BBD), is also considered as a major undertaking by the company as it envisions long-term productivity and profitability through its Cebu operations which is also its first center in the country.
Prior to its move at the TGU Tower at the Asiatown IT Park in Lahug, Cebu City, BT considered 60 other sites worldwide for its financial services center.
BT Cebu office director Heiko Kaefer said the company considered the quality of Cebu’s workforce and the availability of licensed accountants in deciding to open a center here.
BT also considered the high number of finance and economic students produced in Cebu every year.
â€Cebu is also familiar with the set up of shared services centers and business process outsourcing,†Kaefer said.
Cebuanos, he added, also possess a “true global customer culture".
He said Asiatown IT Park’s underground power cables high voltage switch gear, fast broadband capability and redundant power and data lines provided by TGU tower have strengthened its belief that Cebu is the right place for the center. - PNA
