PNA: The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI-Kalibo) is urging Kalibo Mayor William Lachica to consider promoting a new business hub in this Ati-atihan town.
PCCI-Kalibo President Jose Mari Aldecoa said that promoting a new business hub not only stirs new economic opportunities but also lessen the worsening traffic problems here.
"We suggest that the new business hub will be placed in Barangay Tigayon, Kalibo in order to lure more business investments in this town," Aldecoa said.
The PCCI-Kalibo earlier asked the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to consider putting a bridge in Tigayon to connect with nearby Lezo town. The DPWH however said that it is still looking for funds for the project.
Noting the viability of Barangay Tigayon as new business hub in Kalibo, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) has already established an office in the said area. Because of this, new business buildings are starting to rise in the said barangay.
Aside from Barangay Tigayon, some businessmen are also looking at Barangay Pook and Barangay Old Buswang as possible sites for a new business center in this town.
Barangay Pook is the site of the current Kalibo International Airport and is the only barangay that engages in the production of angel wings, a much sought after seafood product.
The Barangay Old Buswang meanwhile houses schools and the Governor Corazon Cabagnot Tourism and Training Center.
