The Information and Communication Technology Office is targeting the United Kingdom and Australia to grow the local business process
outsourcing (BPO) sector, an official said here earlier this month.
"Although we are number one in call centers, we have been actually trailing behind India in attracting the UK and Australian market and we want to surpass them (India)," Alejandro P. Melchor III, deputy executive director of the ICT Office, told journalists at the sidelines of a gathering of industry stakeholders.
He said the country is on track in terms of achieving the target to raise annual
BPO revenues to $25 million by 2016 from the current $11 million.
"We’re doing very well this year, based on indications. We want to stretch our lead as the top in the world market. We have seen good indicators during the first half of 2012," Mr. Melchor said. - by bworldonline.com
