This history-rich coastal municipality, despite the election fever, is on feverish preparations for the annual celebration of its town fiesta in honor of San Vicente Ferrer come Wednesday, this week.
A pontifical mass to be officiated by Bishop Leonardo Medroso and concelebrated by priests of the Diocese of Tagbilaran headed by Msgr. Jeffrey Malanog, vicar-general, will usher in the day-long festivity.
Mayor Leoncio Evasco Jr. and Fr. Warren Abarquez, parish priest, will head the hosts who will welcome visitors from all walks of life who will come from neighboring towns, Cebu, Manila, Mindanao and foreign shores.
Nightly shows starting from the first novernario, a tradition long practiced here, will highlight this year's celebration. The following are the activities that provided entertainment to townspeople and visitors who look forward to this part of the year when merry-making is at its fullest inertia:
April 26 - Fluvial Procession and Welcome Program and Recognition of Balikbayans and Visitors; April 27 - 3rd Dance Attack; April 28 - DepEd's "Flashback;" April 29 - Basketball Invitational Games featuring Maribojoc Team A versus Baba Yap Basketball Team; and Maribojoc Team B versus TIPASI; April 30 - Maribojoc GOT Talents;
May 1 - Variety Show; May 2 - Minus One Bulilit Singing Contests; May 3 - Bandfest 2010; May 4 - Disco Concert; May 5 - Enting-Enting Festival and Dos Pakatok Show sponsored by Alyansa Maribojoc; and May 6 - St. Vincent Institute Alumni Homecoming.
A local products/skills display and market matching is set on April 30 while heritage walks are scheduled on April 27, 29 and May 2.
