This resource-rich municipality got windfalls in the form financial assistance that run in millions of pesos courtesy of the Department of Agriculture (DA) through Secretary Arthur C. Yap, said Mayor Stephen Rances.
The “blessings†or financial bounty for the town are given in recognition of the town’s potentials and to improve the lot of the inhabitants here through various projects and programs, according to the message of Yap read for him by DA regional director Ric Oblena.
Both Gov. Erico B. Aumentado and Vice-Gov. Julius Caesar Herrera recognized the town’s potentials in agriculture and that has to be developed.
Aumentado and Herrera, together with board member Concepcion O. Lim, federated president of the Liga ng mga Barangay, graced the 105th foundation day celebration of this town. The big event for Mabini townsfolk was attended by hundreds of people including barangay officials, employees and other sector representatives.
According to Engr. Eygene Cahiles, head of the Bohol Agricultural Promotion Center, these project that the DA wishes to implement include the giving of checks in the amount of PhP200,000 for each of the 22 barrios; Fish port, PhP14 million; Communal irrigation systems in barangay Tangkigan (rehabilitation), PhP1.5 million; and Small Water Impounding Project (SWIP) in barangays San Jose and San Rafael at PhP15 million apiece; Compsoting facility, PhP700,000 at P350,000 each unit; and farm-to-market road, PhP4.4 million and small reservoir impounding project in barangay Catacay, P10 million.
On the other hand, Bureau of Fishereis and Aquatic Resources (BAFR) director Andy Bojos also unveiled before the crowd the fisheries-related projects: Mabini mariculture zone for high value species, PhP2.5 million; Abalone Grow-out project, P425,000; Oyster project, P220,000; seaweeds nursery, P186,000; Mudcrab sanctuary, P58,000 and Aqua-silviculture, P190,000.
During the same affair, Rances led the launching and signing of pledge of commitment of the Citizen’s charter and the Clean and Green competition.
Bestowing of Plaques of Recognition to past mayors and a Resolution adopting Aumentado as adopted son of Mabini highlighted the big celebration.
The celebration was spearheaded by Rances with the able support of Vice-Mayor Esther Fostanes-Tabigue and Sangguniang Bayan members --- Kagawads Jesha C. Toque, Erwin V. Uy, Olimpiades A. Madrinan, Edgardo N. Ybanez, Emilio C. Garcia, Crescencio B. Bernales, Vicente Ismael O. Gulle, Jr., Allan O. Legaspi, ABC president Crispina A. Vergara and SK president Gilbert U. Auditor ----- barangay officials and different committees formed for the purpose of a successful celebration. (RVO)
