Managing Valentine's Day Stress
Five tips for those who are not in a romantic relationship.

Valentine’s Day can be a special day for couples, but it can also be a stressful time for those who are not in a romantic relationship. Those who are single may feel especially lonely and under more pressure at this time of year, even if they are usually happy with their relationship status.
Thankfully, there are a few simple steps that can help manage this stress and alleviate these unwelcome feelings. If you find yourself single on Valentine’s Day, try these five tips to relieve your stress and make the day more special:
1. Self-Nurture – Most of us don’t take as much time out for ourselves as we should, so take this opportunity to pamper yourself with a special treat such as a professional massage or pedicure.
2. Reconnect – Due to hectic schedules, most of us don’t see our friends as often as we would like. Make your day memorable by reconnecting with other single friends . . . go out and have a great time!
3. Spread the Love – Who said Valentine’s Day is only for romantic couples? It’s a holiday meant to share and celebrate love. Why not take the opportunity to send a card to someone special, tell someone how much you love and appreciate them or volunteer to help others?
4. Get Creative – To make the day special for yourself and others, try a Valentine’s Day craft or recipe. Bake some heart-shaped cookies with red sprinkles or a heart-shaped cake with pink icing for your office, family, friends or neighbors. Sharing love, kindness and holiday fun with others can be uplifting for everyone.
5. Be Grateful – Take this opportunity to be thankful for all of the love and wonderful things that are already in your life vs. focusing on anything that might be missing.
It’s important to remember that all relationships have their ups and downs. Be open to love and you will find it at the perfect time for you.
