I would help her emotionally, I would respect her feelings, I would suggest options or alternatives in how to better handle things and not just do things on impulse because she is hurt.
I would suggest Psychotherapy and that it is okay to go to get sessions as your trying to feel better about yourself and deal with things with some what of your head together. One step at a time indeed. almost as if spoon feeding her.
Maybe she has suffered some sort of nervous breakdown one time or another who knows it can be traumatic.
