A Woman's Interest in Theology
« on: September 07, 2009, 02:05:56 PM »
Our Daily Bread

When looking for a new car, potential buyers look at more than the exterior styling. They check out the inner workings that make it run smoothly and efficiently.

When choosing a spouse, however, some are not so careful. They discover too late that a beautiful body is camouflaging a defective mind and soul. Men and women both make this mistake, but author Carolyn Custis James was specifically concerned about men when she wrote: “[A] woman’s interest in theology ought to be the first thing to catch a man’s eye. . . . [Her] theology suddenly matters when a man is facing a crisis and she is the only one around to offer encouragement.”

Solomon should have known this. He was, after all, the wisest man who ever lived (1 Kings 3:12; 4:29-34). But Solomon followed his own desires rather than God’s command and married women whose allegiance was not to God (11:1-2). The results were disastrous. Solomon’s wives turned his heart toward other gods (vv.3-4), and God became angry with him (v.9). The kingdom of Israel was eventually divided and defeated (vv.11-13).

Good theology is important for everyone. And it is difficult to make good decisions if our allegiance is to someone who does not know and love God.  — Julie Ackerman Link

How careful could we be, to get the right choice?

In all honesty, it will take me a lifetime to discover my own self....how much more discovering your partner.  Sometimes, the challenge of discovering each other is part of growing and nurturing of the relationship.  Other times, it could mean the parting of ways. No one can ever predict but we all take our chances..... a chance to find happiness with the one we are with, right?

Hugs and kisses!

Well said, Carmen.

Love and Life is a process, we learn as we go on. When dealing with our lovers, we learn together, and a healthy spiritual life is life-giving ray of light to a growing plant that is Love.

My love and I are Catholic, and she's constant in her Marian adorations. She prays the rosary frequently, as we go to church on a regular basis (when not exam week). She is the one that re-introduced me to praying the rosary.

A relationship that is built on firm foundation, especially on the footing of the Word of God, is essential for the success of the relationship. Everything else blooms from a healthy spiritual relationship. Between Lovers and through the Love of God, who showers lovers with the ability to Love; and to receive love through His Grace.

A woman's hand can steady and calm the heart of a man. The gentle touch of a woman's soul softens the heart of a man, they both complement each other.

Confidently,
Lorenzo

Men and women alike usually focus on
  physical appearance and there's nothing
wrong with that but when it comes
to choosing a lifetime partner; that's
the most difficult decision to make.
Beauty is only skin deep, but the attitude
  will last forever
A virtuous woman make a good wife.
A man that fear the Lord make a good husband.

Ma'am States,
I agree with that statement.
A virtuous woman, indeed, is a blessing and would probably make a good wife.
Not just a wife, but also a mother, partner, lover, physician, and overall everything...by HIS Grace.

:)

A woman who reminds a man to pray at night, who reminds her lover and inspires her lover to do the rosary again. A woman who stands for principle and defends what is right and the Truth despite objections from the wicked of heart.

Beauty, indeed. A diamond in the rough.

A woman who purchased for me a rosary to put in my car so that I would be reminded who is THE LORD YOUR GOD when I drive to work/studies.

A woman who fears the LORD GOD is a woman indeed worthy of total love. :)

Here's a good Talk by Kimberly Hahn, wife of Dr. Scott Hahn, one of the greatest converts to Catholicism in America , in our time, on dating and courtship, can be purchased at www.lighthousecatholicmedia.com. Very informative and inspiring. For a relationship to be successful, God should be in the middle. I think the best way to find a lifetime partner is not to look for one. Jesus said, "Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all the rest shall be added on to you", including the best partner you could ever have.

May the Mighty Name of Jesus be Praised !!!!!

Amen, Amen!

The Lord God is the cement for any true relationship. He is the core the very source of Love--which emanates Truth.

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. - Proverbs 31:30

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
