Bad Company Corrupts Good Character
« on: December 21, 2007, 12:12:05 AM »
By B. G. Jefferis and J. L. Nichols

Live with the culpable, and you will
be very likely to die with the criminal. Bad company is like a nail
driven into a post, which after the first or second blow, may be drawn
out with little difficulty; but being once driven in up to the head,
the pinchers cannot take hold to draw it out, which can only be done
by the destruction of the wood. You may be ever so pure, you cannot
associate with bad companions without falling into bad odor.

Romans 10:9
"That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved."

Sorry Jefferis and Nichol but I'd like to contradict about this a little according to my experienced not just once but twice.
First - One of my classmate in college was an easy-go-lucky lady maybe because her rich uncle supported her and she doesn't care. She did everything from drugs to boys, mention it she has it. Until one day, we crossed roads and I find her challenging at the same time I felt sorry for her. So I took her in by being friendly, supportive, good listener and most of all giving good advice. My friends warned me and told me to neglect her. They were afraid I might get influenced by her. With the guidance of my faith in God, I extended it to her, opening her eyes, minds, body and soul to go back to God by encouraging her to go with me to the church every sunday which to my surprised she did. And then, I asked her a huge favor that if she's willing to be my friend, she has to let go of the bad habits along with her I wouldn't say bad but I guess misguided circle of friends. And she did. Little by little I was proud seeing her transformed until we became inseparable close friends and most of all seeing her graduated was so rewarding. What happen to her now, that I honestly have no idea, after graduation we all parted ways and at that time there was no internet yet so losing a good friend was inevitable. I just hope wherever she is now, she's doing well.
Second - One of my past boyfriend was a drug addict. Again, I might be a little stupid but not dumb. I did the best I could to influenced him to stop but I guess drugs was too powerful than me for him anyway. Even his mother was asking me to do something, unfortunately, nodda. So I just let him go. It was hard but I had to. The best part was whatever drives him crazy didn't really appeal to me. Faith in God is just too strong for me than do drugs.
So for me not all bad company fall into bad odor.
