Four suspected New People’s Army guerrillas led by a woman burned a jeep owned by a retired Navy officer in Piat, Cagayan, Tuesday, police said yesterday.
According to Police Regional Office 2 director Chief Supt. Roberto M. Damian, the suspects flagged down the driver of the jeep identified as Edgardo Mamauad along Bgy. Sto. Domingo in Piat town and at gunpoint ordered him to alight from the vehicle.
The gunmen told Mamauad that his employer, retired Navy Lieutenant Junior Grade Angel Baliuag, owes a huge debt to the revolutionary movement and then set the vehicle on fire.
The rebels allowed Mamauad to leave without harming him.
