Some 1,000
unemployed and single mothers in Negros Occidental were recipients of the modular classes on entrepreneurship jointly sponsored by the Coco-cola Bottling Company.
Yolanda C. Porschwitz, Western Visayas Technical Education and Skills Development Authority(TESDA)regional director said the training is part of Coke’s social responsibility and commitment to support the government’s program on poverty alleviation.
The training, Porschwitz said will run for 12 weeks and training sessions will be held once a week.
“This project involving mothers will be the first of its kind in Negros,†said Porschwitz.
Also to be integrated in the training is the gender sensitivity concept which Porschwitz said "will help motivate mothers to join in advocating for the rest of the mothers in their respective home places."
“Being women, they still have the chance to be competitive and productive and help augment the income of their families,†Porschwitz said.
