Typhoon “Ulysses†(international codename: Dolphin) will pummel the Bicol region by Wednesday night according to a forecast by the Navy Operational Global Atmospheric Prediction System (NOGAPS), the head of the state-run weather bureau.
Out of the eight prediction models used by the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), only the NOGAPS predicted that “Ulysses†would hit Bicol on Wednesday and cross Palawan the following day, said PAGASA director Prisco Nilo in a press briefing Monday at the National Disaster Coordinating Council office at Camp Aguinaldo.
Although this is unlikely to happen, the cold front will determine Bicol’s fate, said Nilo.
“If the cold front moves slow, it will influence the tropical storm and pull it up to the north. But if it moves very vast, it will not influence the direction of the storm†he explained. source: Philippine Daiy Inquirer
