The city mayor here was wounded when he was shot by an unidentified suspect in front of a hotel in the city proper Monday night, police said Tuesday.

Tuguegarao City Mayor Delfin Ting was talking to two of his security escorts in front of a hotel when he was shot around 6 p.m.
The mayor was reportedly hit on his left lip with a bullet that exited through his nose.
The bullet reportedly came from a caliber .22 pistol.
The victim was rushed by his aides to a hospital for immediate treatment. He is now in stable condition.
Aplasca said that investigators and members of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) rushed to the scene and are now conducting an in-depth investigation into the incident to identify the motive, the suspects and the mastermind.
In a radio interview Tuesday morning, Tuguegarao City Liga ng mga Barangay president Larry Ting, son of wounded mayor, claimed that politics could be behind the shooting incident. He didn’t elaborate. (PNA)
