Tricycle in Dagupan Charging Much?
« on: November 17, 2010, 04:56:32 PM »
source: PNA - At least 2,500 tricycle operators and drivers of Dagupan are asking the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) here for authority to increase their fare from the present minimum of P7 for the first four kilometers to P12 for the first two kilometers.

This was gleaned from a letter of Norme Quinto, president of the Federation of Accredited Tricycle Association in Dagupan City (FATODAG) to Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez, SP presiding officer, through Councilor Karlos Reyna, chair of the SP committee on Public Utilities.

The matrix of the existing fare rate is posted inside the side car of the motorized tricycle in full view of the passenger for his or her information.

However, it was observed that many tricycle drivers in the city are already charging much more than the existing minimum fare despite the fare matrix, to the consternation of the riding public.

The letter of FATODAG was approved by presidents of six tricycle associations in Dagupan, namely Amador Taganna of CentroDag, Celso Descallar of MOTODA, Richard de la Cruz of PogoChico TODA, Calixto Garcia of KATALOGO, Jess Benavidez of DETRA and Gualberto Tamayo, chairman of DC Toda.

FATODAG is seeking amendment of City Ordinance 1863-2006 entitled Revised Tricycle Fare Ordinance of 2006 that fixed the minimum rate of tricycles from P7 minimum for the first four kilometers and P2 for every kilometer thereafter.

They likewise asked that the special fare for tricycles in waiting area at P30 for the first two kilometers and P2 per every kilometer thereafter.
