Four fishermen died while two others were injured when their boat was pulled up and trashed by a tornado in Sitio Pinagbayanan, Barangay Sanguirin here past midnight yesterday.
Dr. Henry Buzar, Civil Defense coordinator, identified the fatalities as Roberto Longaza, the boat captain, Joven Rajas, Boyet Prias, and Ryan Brogada. Injured were Paquito Pedrigal and his son Raniel.
“Bigla pong iniangat ng tornado ang aming bangka sa dagat at nang maitaas kami sa ere ay saka ibinatikal ng pabaligtad sa tubig, Paglubog namin sa dagat ay nakalabas kaming mag-ama sa bangka pero naiwan ang mga kasama namin doon,†Buzar quoted the Pedrigals.
In his report to Quezon Gov. Rafael Nantes, Buzar said the F/B Annabel was docked with its crewmen resting inside while waiting for the weather to improve. But shortly after 12 midnight, a tornado suddenly struck the boat. - Journal Online
