At least 36 passengers were hurt when a mini-bus they were riding bound for Laoag from Pagudpud town overturned along the national highway here at around 8:30 a.m on Monday, according to the police.
The accident along a curved intersection happened when the driver of the Mayan Bus, Alberto Ablan, suddenly applied the break to avoid a motorcycle that cut across its path while the bus was negotiating a sharp curve intersection.
When the bus overturned, its rear side hit the motorcycle.
Ablan voluntarily surrendered and is now under the custody of the Bacarra police
The bus passengers suffered various injuries and were taken to the Gov. Roque Ablan, Sr. Memorial Hospital and discharged after treatment.
The police said the owner of the bus has volunteered to shoulder the victims’ hospital and medical expenses. - source: PNA
