A robbery inside the principal's office greeted pupils and teachers during the first day of classes last Monday at the Lingayen Central School 1 on Alvear Street in Poblacion, Lingayen, Pangasinan.
Lingayen police chief Supt. Harris Reyes Fama said his operatives reported that unidentified robbers carted away two computer units worth some P36,000 but spared other equipment, like a television set and other paraphernalia.
Police theorized the robbery could have taken place last Sunday night,June 3 or early morning Monday, June 4, during heavy downpour, Fama said.
The robbery was discovered at 6:30 a.m. of Monday when Louie Tigno, a school teacher, reported for work during the first day of classes, he said.
Fama said investigation showed that the culprits gained entry into the principal's office by detaching the iron grill and jalousie blades on the window of the principal's office.
Damaged jalousie blades were submitted by the police for laboratory examination to retrieve any latent fingerprint left by the suspects, he said.
