Police have filed murder charges against four people, including a woman, in connection with the killing of a Japanese national in this southern port city.
Chief Insp. Felixberto Martinez, Police Station 7 chief, said the charges of homicide with attempted robbery, were filed before the city prosecutor’s office last Monday.
Martinez identified the suspects as Analyn Abejero, the victim’s house helper, Darwin Francisco, Raymond Morales, and Mark Anthony Ramos.
Martinez said witnesses pointed to the four as those who killed
Tokio Miyake, 71, in the victim's house in Barangay Pasonanca on May 14.
Miyake, who stayed in Pasonanca since 1991, died from a single stab wound in the chest.
Abejero had earlier told the police that she saw two people running away when she woke up and went to check Miyake on his bedroom after hearing the victim screaming for help.
Abejero, as the victim’s house helper, was sleeping in one of the two bedrooms of Miyake’s rented house.
Martinez, however, said that as investigation continued they discovered that Abejero has connived with the three suspects to rob Miyake of his valuables.
Martinez said the suspects stabbed Miyake with an ice pick after the victim resisted them.
“We will immediately arrest the suspects once warrants of arrest will be issued against them,†Martinez said.
All of the four suspects are at large, Martinez said. (PNA)
