Two persons were killed while three others were wounded when a bridge in South Cotabato collapsed on Sunday, police said on Tuesday.

Senior Superintendent Nilo Wong, South Cotabato police director, said the Bacneb Bridge in Barangay Laconon, T’Boli town collapsed around 2 p.m. Sunday, while a heavily loaded passenger jeep was traversing the bridge.

Ernie Lauro, the jeep cum hauler truck driver, said the vehicle was loaded with 43 sacks of corn and was in the middle of the bridge when the structure gave way.

Two passengers, identified as Lantoy Ginda and Celso Kita, were pinned to death by sacks of corn and the fallen truck.

The injured were brought to the T’Boli Evangelical Hospital for treatment.(PNA)
