ONLY public transport vehicles that have secured business permits from the Silay City Government and a franchise with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) are allowed to pick up passengers from the airport to any point in the province.
Silay City Administrator Ignacio Salmingo made the clarification amid complaints of some public transport vehicle drivers and operators that they are not allowed to pick up passengers from the airport, thereby causing them losses in terms of fuel and income opportunity as they had to return to their places of origin without any passenger.
The business permit payment is very minimal at P200 per unit for taxi and P500 per unit, for the vans, said Salmingo. He assured the operators that the city will not hesitate granting them the business permits, as long as the applicants have the LTFRB franchise from the New Bacolod-Silay airport to any destination within the province.
As to the parking fee being charged to private vehicles at the airport parking lots, Salmingo said the City Government has nothing to do about it and the contract is between a private company collecting the fees and the airport management alone.
Salmingo also denied issues that only Faith Taxis are allowed to pick up passengers at the airport.
