Police authorities in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) said the abduction of a school registrar in Sulu was not a case of kidnap for ransom.
"It was a case of rido or family feud involving the school official and the suspect," Chief Supt. Bienvenido Latag, ARMM police regional director, said.
Latag said Ujun Arabain, acting registrar of the college department of Hadji Butu School of Arts and Trade (HBSAT) was released by his captors to his family in Indanan town Tuesday, or two days after he was seized.
Chief Superintendent Felicisimo Khu, director for Integrated Police Operations in Western Mindanao, said the 42-year-old victim was snatched Sunday afternoon by four armed men while he was attending a wedding in the same barangay.
Latag could not say what triggered the kidnapping but said police are trying to reach the relatives to shed light on the matter.- PNA
