Roxas, Robredo vow to strengthen 4Ps program as Negros Occidental releases hit P1-B mark

BACOLOD CITY, Jan. 29 (PNA) -- Liberal Party standard bearer Manuel Roxas II and his runningmate Camarines Sur Rep. Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo committed to strengthen the government’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) as it continues to benefit millions of marginal Filipinos, including 124,630 Negrense families and their dependents.

A group supporting their tandem here said Roxas and the entire administration slate are expected to arrive next month in Negros Occidental, where the national government, through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), has already released a total of P1.088 billion in cash grants as of November 2015 to thousands of families in the province.

Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. said the 4Ps has covered beneficiaries in 660 out of 661 barangays of the province since 2010.

A total of 51,667 cash cards had already been distributed to the grantees, whose children, numbering 1,348, were sent to college as scholars of the program. A total of 8,716 high school students in Negros Occidental also graduated through the 4Ps.

Former governor Rafael Coscolluela, chair of Friends of Mar-Leni (FOM) in Negros Occidental, said that additional grants totaling P11.671 million will soon be released by the DSWD Negros Occidental Provincial Operations Office to more beneficiaries.

Bacolod City topped the list of local government units in Negros Occidental with the most number of 4Ps beneficiaries with 11,158 families, who received about P88.2 million in cash grants since 2010 until November 2015.

It is followed by Kabankalan City, 8,73 family-recipients, with P69.1 million; Sagay City, 7,105, with P61.8 million; San Carlos City, 6,527, with P53.5 million, and Cadiz City, 6,366, with P55.7 million.

The rest in the top 10 are Cauayan with 6,157 families, having cash grants totaling P56.5 million; Calatrava, 5,276, with P45.3 million; Sipalay City, 4,809, with P43.1 million.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
