The new leadership of the local Philippine National Police (PNP) has vowed to restore the good image of policemen here, notably among the stakeholders in this resort island.
Senior Supt. Ruperto Floro, Jr. acting PNP provincial police director and chief of the PNP regional operations and planning division here, said they are currently coordinating with the resort owners to maintain peace and order in the island.
Resort owners have recently expressed disgust with the local PNP following the relief of five Boracay policemen on allegations that they committed mismanagement in a police operation on land dispute cases.
Due to mismanagement allegations, the five policemen headed by former Boracay chief Supt. Arnold Ardiente were sent to Pampanga for re-training on values education.
After the relief of the five policemen, resort owners complained of surge of petty crime cases such as snatching and robbery incidents in Boracay.
Aside from Floro who served as the new acting provincial police director, the Boracay police is also being headed by new police personnel Chief Inspector Eugene Rebadom.
Floro asked the resort owners to give them a chance to prove that they are “no-nonsense police enforcers.†(PNA)
