Armed confrontation resulting to the death of hostile Suspect

Sasa Police Station 4, Davao City- on 8:15 PM. of December 10, 2019, PS4 Station Drug Enforcement Team led by PMAJ REUBEN T LIBERA, Station Commander, in coordination with the PDEA XI under the above cited pre-operation number 30004-122019-0087, conducted buy-bust operation at San Antonio Road, Km. 10, Sasa Davao City, against the drug suspect identified as 1-DARWIN NAMLI HANANI alias “DARWIN” (DI watchlist), 34 years old, male, married, jobless, Purok 2, Barangay 23-C, Boulevard Davao City.

That during the drug deal, the suspect handed over a piece of elongated shape, heat sealed, transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected as shabu to the poseur-buyer.
In turned, the poseur-buyer handed over the buy bust marked money to the suspect. But before the police officer could arrest the suspect, the latter sensed that he was dealing with a police officer and thereby took a Caliber 45 firearm from his sling bag and shot the poseur-buyer. Thus, prompting the police officer to defend himself and shoot back hitting and wounding the suspect.

Immediately, the operating elements rushed the wounded suspect to Southern Philippines Medical Center for immediate medical attention. However, on or about 8:45 P.M. of the same date of the same date, the attending physician, Dr. Raul Martin Bren C. Andutan, declared the suspect dead on arrival. This office and the SOCO team led by PLT Benjie Bueno conducted parallel investigation at the crime scene and recovered the following pieces of evidence, to wit: a. one (1) unit Caliber 45 firearm, Taurus, with one magazine inserted, loaded with six (6) ammunition, b. one (1) piece fired cartridge case believed to be fired from 9mm pistol, c. one (1) piece Php 1000 bill, buy-bust marked money, bearing serial number KF016378, d. eight (8) pieces Php 20 bill, e. sling bag color brown, f. one (1) piece, square shape, transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu.

The recovered drug item has an estimated weight of more or less 1.0 gram with a street value of Php 12,000.  Likewise, the death of the suspect is the result of the intensified campaign of the PNP to eradicate the proliferation of illegal drugs.
