The City Health Office (CHO) here has recorded six dengue deaths out of 1,034 cases in the month of August this year.
Elizabeth Banzon, tropical unit coordinator of CHO, said the deaths were reported in barangays Agdao, Districts B, C and D in the poblacion area while Talomo South has two deaths.
Banzon said the age of dengue patients ranged from three-months old to 79 years old.
She said the barangays with most dengue cases were Buhangin with 132, Talomo North with 68, Talomo South with 124, and 65 in Agdao.
Banzon said Bunawan, Tugbok, District B, Sasa, Toril and District A were also dengue hotspots in the city.
The CHO, she said, was doing its best to combat dengue in the city, adding that each household should also observe cleanliness, which is the very best way to fight dengue.
Dr. Josephine Villafuerte, city health officer, earlier said the increase did not mean they failed to do their job in keeping the city's dengue cases decreasing.
