Quezon town sustains shelter for youth offenders
« on: May 25, 2020, 12:15:29 PM »
LUCBAN, Quezon – Mayor Olivier Dator vowed Wednesday to sustain the town’s “Shelter for Youth Offenders and Crisis Center”, which he described as the province’s pioneering shelter for youth offenders and children in conflict with the-law (CICL).

Celebrating the shelter’s 4th anniversary, Dator said it presently houses 70 youth offenders and five CICLs, and also caters to abandoned children, mentally-challenged persons, and abused or battered women.

He thanked Assistant Secretary Dennis Hernandez of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for facilitating additional funds for the shelter’s rehabilitation and the improvement of its facilities.

The mayor and his wife, Acel, led the shelter’s anniversary celebration, which was also graced by representatives of Alona Party-List Rep. Anna Marie V. Suarez, Quezon Rep. Trina Enverga, and DSWD Regional Director Leticia T. Diokno.
Dator likewise expressed his appreciation for the support of Quezon provincial social welfare office head Sonia S. Leyson, Lucban Councilors and Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) officers and village officials who attended the occasion. (Gideon Belen/PNA)
