The
Palawan Provincial Tourism Office (PTO) is thankful that the popular travel guide
"Lonely Planet" included the province in the top 10 list of the world’s best regions for 2013 which is expected to increase the number of domestic and foreign tourists who will visit many of its popular sites.

Maribel Buñi said the inclusion of Palawan as
No. 8 in the list of the world’s best regions and calling it
“the ultimate archipelago for adventurers†is “
an opportunity that would open more tourism-related possibilities to the province,†especially next year.
“We are thankful of
Palawan’s inclusion in the 'Lonely Planet' list. That is already the 'Lonely Planet', and we all know it’s one of the world’s most known travel references,†Buñi said, adding they are now preparing to welcome the surge of more visitors in 2013 by rehabilitating some facilities.
Buñi said the
"Lonely Planet" citation is an early Christmas gift, and
Governor Baham Mitra is happy the efforts of the provincial government under the H.E.A.T. (Health, Environment, Agriculture and Tourism) Program has been recognized by the largest travel guide book and digital media publisher in the world.
