Pilot cheats death as plane carrying fish crash lands in Palawan
PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, July 31 (PNA) -- A small aircraft that brings live fish to Luzon smashed into the ground of the airstrip in Barangay New Barbacan in the northern Palawan town of Roxas early Thursday morning.
Initial reports obtained by the Philippine News Agency (PNA) from Senior Inspector Salvador Tabi of the Municipal Police Office (MPO) of Roxas said the light aircraft with registry number RP-C9078 owned by Aviation Tech Inc. Company (ATIC) was piloted by Capt. Eugene Abela when it met an accident in Palawan.
The light aircraft, which was being used to transport live fish products from the province reportedly came from Cavite and was on its way to San Vicente town, also in the north.
It crashed due to mechanical malfunction, said Tabi.
On its way to make an emergency landing at the Roxas airstrip after the pilot sensed the mechanical trouble, the light aircraft’s front wheel broke, causing it to land forcefully to the ground.
Abela was safe from the incident, but the aircraft suffered major damages.
Further investigation is still being conducted. (PNA)
