A town mayor and five others were injured Wednesday morning when an Isuzu Elf smashed into their van along the Cauayan-San Mateo road in Barangay San Fermin, this city.
Police operatives identified the victims as Cabatuan, Isabela Mayor Cid Dayrit, Restituto Talipada, Manolo Tejada, and a certain Bonnie, all occupants of the Nissan Urvan; and Christine Buenas and her child, both passengers of the Isuzu Elf.
Dayrit, who complained of chest pains, sustained a broken right arm and smashed ribs.
Talipada’s legs were pinned inside the car and it took the rescuers from the Rescue 922 more than an hour to help him out.
Dayrit and his companions were on their way back to Cabatuan town from Cauayan City proper when their van collided with the light truck, which tried to overtake another car along the provincial road shortly past 9:00 a.m. Wednesday.
